Strands for Stars is a growing organization with a huge potential to impact the lives of many. By establishing a nationwide network of talented volunteer stylists, we can do just that.
We are currently looking for hair stylists that are willing to donate their time and talent to our clients. Our clients are individuals trying to preserve their individuality during an extremely difficult time. And our goal is to restore self-esteem, one life at a time.
How it Works
The first step is for an individual to contact Strands for Stars and express an interest in our service. Ideally, we will be able to pair them up with a volunteer stylist from their community (or within driving distance).If they prefer to have a pre-style consultation, we will set up an appointment with one of our volunteer stylists. During the consultation, the stylist and Strands for Stars client will discuss hair color, style and what option will be most comfortable for the client.
The client will select the wig of their choice. They can either select from the styles already on hand or we can arrange for a special order, depending on their need. All orders are placed through the main Strands for Stars office.
At this point the Strands for Stars office will request a financial contribution from the client. If financial means is an issue, we will determine how much the client can afford to contribute. The contribution is simply to help us cover the cost of the program; however, a donation is not required in order to utilize our service. No one will be turned away.
Once the client's selection is ready for shipment, the main Strands for Stars office will ship the client their wig or partial wig with hat, along with their care kit. After the client receives their products they will coordinate a convenient time with the stylist to have their wig or partial wig professionally styled.
What is required from the stylist?
All you donate is your time and talent. There are no financial obligations and the time commitment is based on the response from your community. If there is a large response from your community we will try to recruit additional volunteers to help with the demand.
You will receive a new volunteer stylist packet which includes a sign for you to display in your salon. You will also be able to write-off your time as an in-kind donation to our organization.
But the most important thing of all...you will have made a difference by helping to restore someone's self-esteem and self-confidence during a very difficult time.
